I know it's been over two years since I last posted here, but I'm going to keep holding on to this blog since it's becoming increasingly hostile out there on popular social media sites in terms of antis and fanpol and all those other wonderful things. Honestly, aside from AO3, DW is the best and safest place for fandom to thrive. I just wish more people would realize that and get their butts over here so we can establish a real fandom community once more. But it's hard to go back once you've had a taste of one-click posting, WYSWYG formatting, and onsite image hosting. The latter I think is the biggest hurdle to jump. I had hopes of importing content from my tumblr, but it's just... way way too much burden to put on my personal hosting server. And me.

Which is a shame because I've been making a lot of really awesome "problematic content" in the last few months. (I'm back on my bullshit, as they say.) It's times like these when I really really miss the old days (pre Twitter and Tumblr). You know. When you could post two cartoon characters nailing each other without getting crucified. Seems like the world was just a little bit friendlier to adult content creators back then.

If I sound old, it's because I am. 😪

Hey! https://imgbb.com is really good for hosting if DW's isn't enough (their TOS is super lenient!) - or there's https://images.squidge.org Squidge's fork of it which is specifically for fandom images and a higher image size limit!
Having your own Discord server with just you in it is also quite popular as a solution.
And if you post the images privately to Tumblr as a draft, you can hotlink off-site and it USUALLY persists even if you're not allowed to post it on the site itself - though that's definitely less reliable lmao

Hope you find a solution that works for you :D if it's any help, I've found the most active communities over here through fandomcalendar and addme_fandom / addme21plus!

Thank you! I knew the trick about Tumblr, but I didn't know about the other options. I have my own domain and hosting so this really isn't a huge deal, but I'm like... why eat up my own bandwidth when I could be using someone else's? LOL 😂 Especially for little things like header images and gif reactions I've put in comments. I'm at the point where I have so many images posted across so many sites over so many years I'm afraid to delete anything off my server XD

And thank you for the community links! It's good to know that fandom is still active here. If the shit hits the fan across all other socmed, this place'll be the couch where everyone comes to crash.

Welcome back! I go through the Latest Things page every day and am heartened to say there's a lot of fannish content, especially for asian dramas and gaming. I'd like to see more animanga content but it's not too bad. :) I also see new people coming in and some old ones coming back.
